The Indianola City Council met in a special joint session with the IMU Board of Trustees at their meeting Monday, where the board discussed insurance renewal. The board then met in a work session, reviewing the next steps of the South K Street Pavement Project.

The council discussed the Kentucky Ridge Development project, regarding sanitary sewer and storm sewer replacement, where council members discussed the funding of the project with the developers regarding funding to move forward with the project. The council gave direction to explore ways of providing funding up front for the sanitary sewer, and not providing money up front for the storm sewer installation for the developer, which by city policy is at the cost of the developer. Council gave direction to staff to continue exploring options for the property, and begin preliminary plans and options for the council to consider.

The council then approved the plans, specifications, form of contract and estimate of cost for the West Clinton Culver Improvements Project and awarded the contract to Absolute Group for $517,847.

The council also approved the grant application for the Iowa Economic Development Authority’s Downtown Revitalization Fund for exterior renovations of downtown building façades, brush facility services for 2024 including opening on April 6th, a spring drop-off event on April 20th, and curbside cleanup beginning April 22nd.

The council also approved a preliminary plat for the Emerald Bay Development before going into closed session to discuss the purchase or sale of particular real estate.
