Knoxville city parks have de-winterized for the summer and the new splash pad in the Veterans District is expected to open in a few weeks.

The parks in Knoxville now have the restrooms open and drinking fountains operational. The hours of city parks in Knoxville are 5:00 am – 10:00 pm. New to the Knoxville park system in 2024 is the splash pad out in the Veterans District. The outdoor water feature will help keep kids cool in the heat of the summer. Knoxville Parks and Recreation Director Brandon Nemmers says he is excited about this addition.

“We’re really excited to get that up and running. It’s pretty unique. Folks that haven’t seen it drive past there and try to figure out what’s going on, because we have canoes sticking out, trees, all kinds of crazy stuff there. It’s just nice to have an outdoor water feature, and we just hope people respect that area.”

The shelter at Auld Park is also now available for renting. If you would like to rent the Auld Park shelter for an event or gathering, you can do so by stopping by the Knoxville Recreation Center.
