The Twin Cedars and Melcher-Dallas School Districts have released their 2024-2025 academic calendars following the approval of four-day school weeks earlier this month.

Both school districts will begin the academic year on Friday, August 23rd. Monday, August 26th-Friday, August 30th will be a traditional five-day school week, before four-day weeks begin on Tuesday, September 3rd. Twin Cedars and Melcher-Dallas will not hold classes on Monday’s throughout the year, with the exception of the week of Thanksgiving break, the week following winter break, and the last full week of school which begins on Monday, May 19th, 2025. Twin Cedars and Melcher-Dallas Superintendent Scott Bridges says that while the new schedule has officially changed, the new calendar won’t be much different than in previous years.

“Keep in mind that over 40% of our weeks in our current calendars and calendars we’ve used in the past, have been less than a five-day week because of just days off, for professional development days, off for a holiday, whatever it is. And if you include snow days in there, it goes even higher, close to half the school year. So, the point I’m making is we’ve already been dealing with it, it’s not like this is a brand new thing, we’re just adding a few more weeks.”
