The Indianola girls and boys basketball teams fell to ADM in a non-conference doubleheader at home Monday evening as heard live on KNIAKRLS.com, the girls falling 53-36 and the boys 73-54.
The girls fell behind 14-2 early but fought back to get within three points at the end of the first quarter 14-11, and tied the score at 14 in the second quarter only to see ADM end the quarter on a 7-0 run to lead 21-14 at the end of the half. The Indians couldn’t muster enough offense in the second half, trailing 37-26 at the end of the third, and ADM would put away the game with clutch shots. Zoey Belt scored 11 points.
The Indians boys faced a barrage of outside shots from the Tigers in the first half, falling behind by as much as 13 in the first half before battling back to a five point deficit at halftime 34-29. The Indians again fought back in the third despite 18-points from Tigers star Hudson Lorensen and trailed 59-45, and got the lead down to nine in the fourth before ADM put the game away. Head coach Jeff Ebling said the Tigers made adjustments to closer officiating in the second half both offensively and defensively, and were able to close out the game. George Blake scored 12 points to lead the team.
The girls fall to 6-12 on the season, the boys to 4-11, with both teams hosting Dallas Center-Grimes on Friday.
