
Competing at the American Rivers Conference Cheer and Dance Championships Sunday, the Central College dance team dominated the field by winning all three categories and taking the overall league trophy.
Central swept the pom, jazz and hip-hop divisions for the second straight season, while Jessie Pospisil and Chayse Gilchrist both earned all-conference accolades.
Central scored 86.13 in pom, outpacing second place Buena Vista University’s total of 71.03. The Dutch edged Wartburg College in hip hop 81.47 to 80.93, and also finished in front of Nebraska Wesleyan University in the jazz category 86.23 to 80.23. In the cheer competition, Central won the title for game day routine with a total of 63.7, ahead of second-place Nebraska Wesleyan’s 62.23.
Central will compete in the National Dance Alliance/National Cheerleader Association College Nationals in Daytona Beach, Florida from April 8th-13th.
