The Jasper County Board of Supervisors will hold the public hearing on the county’s proposed 2026 Five Year Road Program tonight. County Board Chairman Brandon Talsma says there are two reasons for the 6 p.m. start time.
“Number one is so it’s not confused as part of our regular meeting. It’s pretty clear it’s a stand alone meeting for the five year road plan for secondary roads. Number two is holding it in the evening, we try to make it as accessible as possible.”
After the public hearing, Jasper County Engineer Mike Frietsch will send the proposed five year road construction plan to the Iowa Department of Transportation. Once the Department of Transportation approves the plan, it comes back to the County Board of Supervisors for adoption.
Tonight’s 6 p.m. public hearing on Jasper County’s proposed 2026 Five Year Road Program will be held in the County Board of Supervisors Room on the second floor of the courthouse in downtown Newton.
