The City of Pella parks department is ready for residents and visitors to enjoy the more than 120,000 tulips planted in flower beds across the community. The annual Bloom Status map was released this week, which Parks Director Chandler Nunnikhoven says will be updated periodically over the next six weeks to highlight what tulips are showing their color. He says the department undergoes extensive work each fall to plant thousands of bulbs in preparation for a spring bloom. He says this year, a blend named after City Employee Marci Woodhouse will also be featured. Find the bloom status map here. The 90th Tulip Time celebration in Pella is May 1st through the 3rd.
