For the second time in his career, Mike Mayberry will come into a Knoxville Raceway season as a defending track champion. Mayberry won his second Pro Sprints title last year with a consistent season with seven top fives in ten features with just one win. That is something Mayberry wants to do more of this season is win races, along with winning another Pro Sprints title. He tells KNIA/KRLS Sports he and his crew built a new car for this season, one that the frame had been sitting in his race shop for a couple of years.
Mayberry: “Over the offseason we built a new car, hopefully it’ll be faster than last year, you don’t know until you get it out on the track. We had a frame in the corner of our shop that we won a couple of years ago at a banquet so we decided to put it together.”
Mayberry has eight career wins in the Pro Sprints/305 class at the Knoxville Raceway which ties him for 4th all-time. He also won the Pro Sprints title in 2022. KNIA will again provide live flag-to-flag coverage of all sprint car events at the Knoxville Raceway including this year’s 360 Nationals, Capitani Classic, and the 64th Nos Energy Drink Knoxville Nationals. Live Track Side will air before each sprint car nightly at 5:00 and Race Nights Live will air at 7:00 both shows will air on 94.3 and 95.3 KNIA.
