Norwalk senior Lydia Krueger (2nd place)

The Norwalk girls golfers placed second out of five teams in Monday’s Waukee Northwest Invite. The meet was played in cold and windy conditions at The Legacy Golf Course in Norwalk.

Waukee Northwest won the tournament with a score of 344 and Norwalk placed second with a 373 – a 20-stroke improvement compared to last year’s meet. Senior Lydia Krueger led the Warriors with an 18-hole round of 85, earning second-place medalist honors. Sophomore Evelyn Kinney placed fifth with a 91. Mariola Torro Abad shot a 98 and Addie Smith had a 99.

Norwalk will compete in the Ballard Quad meet today at 4:00 p.m., taking on Ballard, Perry and Bondurant-Farrar. The Warrior tennis teams will face Newton at 4:15 (girls home, boys away) and the soccer teams will meet Dallas Center-Grimes tonight (girls away, boys home).
