Little Hawkeye Conference track and field athletes will compete in a showcase of four elite conferences in central Iowa on Saturday, as they take part in the Jim Duncan Invitational at Drake Stadium.

Six weeks ahead of Championship Saturday at the State Meet and two weeks before the Drake Relays, athletes from Pella, Pella Christian, Indianola, and Norwalk will take on athletes from the CIML, Iowa Alliance, and Raccoon River Conferences. Drake Relays Director Blake Bolden says that the meet provides area athletes a chance to compete at the famous Blue Oval and to try and qualify for the Drake Relays.

“This Jim Duncan Invitation is an opportunity for those area high schools to get experience there, but also to get a qualifier because the track is fast, our officials are first class, and we have a facility that enables and fosters world class performance at every level. So, it’s a chance for those athletes to get a good qualifying mark and attain one of those Blue Standards.”

The Jim Duncan Invitational at Drake Stadium Saturday will begin with running events at 8:30 am, with throwing events set to start shortly thereafter at 9 am.
