Two Norwalk teams battled the elements of rain and wind on Monday. The girls tennis team picked up a 7-4 dual win at Ames and the boys track and field squad placed second in their home invitational.
Girls tennis wins 7-4
The Warrior girls tennis team improved to 2-1 on the year with their 7-4 victory over the Little Cyclones. Eight Norwalk girls finished the meet with at least one varsity win. Singles winners included Ivanna Sherstiuk, Leah Black, Logan Geisler and Kierdyn Stockwell. Winning in doubles were the teams of Julia Palen and Black, Stockwell and Naomi Lors, and Jacey Crane and Myla Brown.
Boys track places 2nd
In Monday’s Norwalk Boys Track Invitational, ADM topped the field with 150.5 points, followed by Norwalk with 141.5 and Newton 107. Rain cut the meet short by two events as the 4×100 and 4×400 relays were called off.

The crew of Kadan Borcherding-Johnson, Gavin Dehmer, Eli Robbins and Kunze won the 4×200 and Tim Koerselman, Brady Schmitz, Cam Thomas and Grant Wallace combined to win the distance medley.
Second-place finishes for the Warriors were AJ Mosqueda in the 400 (personal-best 53.74) and Sam Parker in the 800. Lane Osterloh placed third in the 3,200 and Harrison Tripp was third in the discus.
