Some late-round misfires slowed the early momentum for the Central College men’s golf team as it opened in seventh at the 54-hole American Rivers Conference Championships on Sunday. The University of Dubuque grabbed the first-round lead at 290 on the par-71 Glen Oaks Country Club layout, while Central carded a 310. Crew Klingner and Kayden Pendergrass each shot a 77 and stand in a tie for 17th after the first day of the tournament. Carter Yurgae and Maison Brandt had a 78 on the day, while Blake Wynn shot 83. Today’s second round is slated to tee off at 9 am.
