Simpson baseball’s Nate Cagley has been named the American Rivers Conference Player of the Week following a standout stretch at the plate that helped the Storm to a 4-2 record.
Cagley batted .560 (14-for-25) across a busy week for the Storm which included a 7-4 win over then-No. 22 Buena Vista, a 5-1 victory at Nebraska Wesleyan, and a series win over Central. The junior recorded multiple hits in five of six games and reached base at a .607 clip, drawing three walks along the way.

In the Storm’s crucial series win against Central, Cagley was nearly unstoppable, going 9-for-13 (.692) with three doubles, six RBIs, and two walks.

The Storm (15-20, 9-12 A-R-C) are set to battle Dubuque (17-18, 9-12 A-R-C) for a spot in the American Rivers Conference Tournament this weekend at home. Simpson will play two on Friday followed by one on Saturday, which is also Senior Day.
