
Completing the trifecta Saturday, the Pella Christian boys golf team won their third meet of the week by taking first place in the Knoxville Invitational at Pine Knolls Country Club.
After winning the PCM and Oskaloosa Invites on Monday and Tuesday, the Eagles shot a +9 over par 289 as a team, which bested the host Panthers by five strokes. The Eagles were led by the senior trio of Eliot Menninga, Deacon Branderhorst and Carter Brand, with each recording a +2 over par 72, which was good for second, fourth and fifth places respectively after the cardback tiebreakers. Senior Cooper Spronk was 1 stroke behind them, shooting a +3 over par 73, to finish in 7th place for the day. Landon Fransman and Conner VanZee rounded out the Eagles varsity squad, shooting a 77 and an 81.
The Eagles return to action on Monday at the Washington Invite at Blue Top Ridge Golf Resort in Riverside, and the meet will also serve as the third leg of the Little Hawkeye Conference regular season race.
