
The PCM boys golf team got off to a good start at the Class 2A State Golf Tournament, finishing in a tie for fourth as a team after the first day of action in Waterloo.
The Mustangs are tied with East Marshall with a team score of 319 after the first 18 holes, and are 17 strokes back of Columbus Catholic, who leads the tourney with a 302. PCM was led on the day by senior Jeffery McDanel, who finished the opening round in a seven-way tie for fifth place with a three-over-par 75. Easton Van Veen wasn’t far behind McDanel, shooting a six-over-par 78 to finish the first 18 holes in a tie for 17th. Charlie Ford in a tie for 35th and Tate Tangeman in a tie for 47th, rounded out the Mustangs’ scoring with an 82 and 84 respectively. Completing the lineup for PCM on the day was Pete Kiernan with an 86 and Parker DeHaai with a 91.
PCM will look to make up ground in pursuit of the Class 2A Title on the second and final day of the tournament today, with the first tee times scheduled for 9 am.
