The Indianola baseball team split a home doubleheader against the Mustangs of Dallas Center-Grimes on Friday, while the softball team was swept with game two heard live on 94.3 KNIA.

Indianola baseball won game one 4-2, with George Blake pitching 5 innings and Bryant Ritchie coming in for the two-inning save, while the offense was led by Blake going 1-3 at the plate with an RBI, and Max Wedmore and Ritchie each driving in a run. Game two saw the Indians fall 6-4, committing multiple errors allowing the Mustangs to get ahead, but nearly clawed back to save a win but gave up two runs in the seventh to fall. Andrew DeWall pitched six innings giving up just two earned runs and the offense was cold. Indianola is now 19-4 on the season.

The softball team ran into the hot bats from DCG, falling 14-4 in five innings in game one and 13-0 in four innings in game two. Game one saw the Indians grab a brief 2-1 lead after scoring a run on an error and a wild pitch, but DCG would score 11 unanswered runs to go up 12-2 in the fourth, when Sully Downey hit a homerun to extend the game another inning, and Sam Gripp hit a homerun in the fifth but the deficit was too large. The Indians gave up nine runs in the second inning of game two and never recovered as the game ended early. The softball team falls to 13-10 on the season.

Both teams take the weekend off, and will travel to Newton on Monday.
