It is simply Rico Abreu’s World and everyone is just racing in it. The St. Helena, California driver dominated the 360 Nationals A-Main on Saturday night heard live on KNIA to win his first career 360 Nationals title leading all but two laps holding off Kyle Larson for the win. Abreu started on the pole and jumped out to a big lead and seemingly the only things that were going to slow him down were a couple of red flags and caution periods. He briefly lost the lead to Larson on lap 23 on a restart but when a yellow came out again, Abreu jumped on it and led the final six laps. He told KNIA/KRLS this was a bucket list race to win.
Abreu “I dream of these opportunities, and put myself in position to succeed, and I had to beat the 57, he the best race car driver in the world and I just ran it wide open.”
Larson settled for 2nd place while Parker Price-Miller took 3rd to complete the podium. There is one more event for this week’s Nationals as the 13th Annual Capitani Classic is tonight at the Knoxville Raceway. This is a 410 only show and there is expected to be over 70 cars in the field for tonight’s action. Live Track Side will be at 5:00 and Race Nights Live will be at 7:00 on KNIA.
