A new Domino’s Pizza restaurant and Kwik Star store in Knoxville are expected to be completed with construction by the end of the year.
The site plan for the new Domino’s was approved at Monday night’s city council meeting and will be located on West Pleasant Street replacing a non-operational car wash. The Domino’s will include drive-thru and takeout service along with delivery. A representative from Domino’s was at the meeting and she stated she expects the project to be done at the end of this year.
The new Kwik Star gas station and car wash started construction this week. The project located on the corner of Highway 14 and West Pleasant will include the retail store, car wash and 20 spots for fueling. Knoxville City Manager Heather Ussery says with the new housing that the community has added lately, it makes Knoxville a more attractive location for commercial businesses to come to.
“With the additional rooftops comes these types of developments. As we focus on housing and meeting those demands, and adding more residents to our community, that’s when we will be able to see those developments in the commercial aspect of our community. I think we are starting to see that as we’ve added a substantial amount of housing over the last few years and now we’re starting to see these developments so it’s very exciting and I hope it’s able to continue.”
The Kwik Star store is expected to be completed in 20 weeks. Hear more from Ussery on an upcoming Let’s Talk Knoxville.
