
Some of the best tennis teams in Iowa gathered at a new tournament at all three courts in Pella to serve as a midway checkpoint for postseason prospects and to celebrate the sport before the rest of the fall season kicks in.
It was the #2 in 1A Dutch that came out on top of the newly created Tulip City Tussle on Saturday. The Dutch scored 114.5 team points to defeat a host of strong teams from around the state, including:
2nd Shenandoah 107.5
3rd Fairfield 86.5
4th Spencer 86
5th Sergeant Bluff-Luton 83
6th Clarinda 80
7th Decorah 75.5
8th Davis County 47.5
Pella’s doubles duos of Abby Hietbrink/Addy Namminga and Addison Van Wyk/Reagan DeJong placed 2nd and 3rd respectively in that bracket. Fifteen schools from around the state competed at the Pella High School, Pella Christian, and Central College sites.
