Central College will welcome alumni, family and friends to campus for Homecoming 2025 beginning on Friday. 

Athletics events will be held throughout the weekend, including the Dutch football team facing the University of Dubuque at 1 pm on Saturday at Ron and Joyce Schipper Stadium. The Central soccer teams will also host games against Dubuque on Saturday, with the women’s contest taking place at 12:30 pm, followed by men’s soccer at 3 pm. Guests at the homecoming festivities can also catch men’s and women’s cross country at the Dutch Open starting at 5 pm on Friday, followed by the volleyball match at 7 pm against Grinnell College.

New in 2025

Alumni awards return with presentations during the Heritage Celebration luncheon on the 26th. Honorees for the year include 2015 graduate Isabelle Hicks Alexander, 2002 graduate Tim Brand, and 1996 graduate Christopher Stone.

Central’s glassblowing program celebrates its 50th anniversary and will host an open house for alumni to tour the Glassblowing Studio, view glass-blown pieces created over the past 50 years, and make a small item. The display includes pieces from professor emeritus of art and a 1958 Central graduate John Vruwink, 1992 Central graduate Lee Wassink, professor of art and 1992 Central graduate Brian Roberts, and visiting glass artists. Roberts welcomes alumni between 9 am to noon on Saturday.

Saturday morning, alumni and the public also can enjoy the A Cappella Choir and alumni mini concert at 11 am at the A.N. Kuyper Athletics Complex’s Pacha Family Lobby.

Students will select the Homecoming Royalty, who will be introduced during coronation at the pep rally on Friday.

Saturday:

  • 9 am – Mills Gallery exhibit opens – Free
  • 9 am to Noon – Glassblowing Open House – Free

  • 11 am – Red Zone Tailgate – Free
  • 1 pm – Football game
  • Post-game Party – Free
  • 6 pm – 50th Reunion celebration dinner for the Class of 1975

  • 11 am – Central Market brunch – Free
  • 1 pm – Flying Pans Alumni Steel Band concert – Free
