The first Northstar Elementary public meeting date ahead of the upcoming November bond vote election will happen tonight.

On the November 4th General Election ballot, citizens of Knoxville will be asked to vote on approving the final portion of funding for a new elementary school in Knoxville, totaling $12.4 million in general obligation school bonds. The other two-thirds of the funding has already been approved, which will be $26 million in sales, service, and use tax revenue refunding bonds.

The district will hold two public meetings tonight and October 29th from 6-8 pm, in which citizens can have their questions answered ahead of the upcoming bond vote. A Northstar task force was assembled in the spring, and decided a new building was the most appropriate option for the future of the school. The new building would be located in the Veterans District. Superintendent Cassi Pearson says this is a great opportunity to get more information ahead of the vote.

“We will be giving additional information that night on the Northstar project, having an opportunity to do some questions and answers, and tours. People will be able to get tours of the building and see for themselves. If you went to school there as a youngster and want to see what it’s like today we would love to have you join us if you want more information ahead of the election on November 4th.”

This meeting is considered a school board special session as all school board members will be in attendance, however no action will be taken. Find a link to learn more about the project and upcoming vote here.
