Just over 1,000 visitors greeted the Pella Fire Department at their annual breakfast kicking off Fire Prevention Week. Fire Chief Randy Bogaard says they served a record number of 1034 meals to the community at the station on Saturday morning. A wide range of activities were hosted on the site, including a dunk tank, raffle drawing, and rides on fire trucks. All proceeds benefit equipment needs for the Pella City and Rural Fire Departments. Bogaard says they will have students from local schools visiting the fire station this week to go over safety tips related to fires.
