Newton At-Large City Council candidate Amy Fischer Roth has prior experience working for a city. Roth is running unopposed for the Fourth Ward, whose current city council representative is Steve Mullan. Mullan is the person who asked Roth to consider running for the position. Roth and her husband moved to Newton five years ago from Aurora, Illinois, which is the second-largest city in the state. She worked in public relations for the City of Aurora, and also for the Aurora Public Library and Park District.
“One of the things I have always been very passionate about is when I work for someone, I put my whole heart and soul into it, and I believe in what they do. Otherwise, I could not work there. I do believe in what the city council is doing right now.”
When Roth and her husband moved to Newton, they took advantage of the city’s New Home Purchasing Program and received $10,000 for buying a new house in town. Hear more from Newton Fourth Ward City Council candidate Amy Fischer Roth on today’s Let’s Talk Newton.
