There are only 10 undefeated teams remaining in Division III football, and two of them will go head-to-head today in Waverly with first place in the American Rivers Conference on the line.
It’s #14 Central making the road trip to take on three-time defending league champion and seventh-ranked Wartburg. The Knights are 7-0, while Jeff McMartin’s Dutch are 6-0.
“It’s been a long week of film and strategy and making decisions and practice”, McMartin said. “Now you have to go out there and cut it loose and let it rip. People want to play in big games and have opportunities. This is one of those opportunities.”
The Dutch are looking to snap a couple of long Wartburg streaks, as the Knights have won a record 31 consecutive American Rivers Conference games and they haven’t lost to Central in Waverly since 2009.
Kickoff is at 1pm today at Walston-Hoover Stadium and Trevor Castle and Don DeWaard will be on hand to call the game live on 92.1 KRLS, beginning with pregame coverage at 12:35.
