A nightmare first quarter put The Knoxville Football Squad in a hole too deep it could not dig out of in a 63-21 season ending loss to Nevada as heard live on 95.3 KNIA. The Cubs scored on their first eight possessions to build a 57-0 lead with 50 of those points coming in the 1st 12:00 of the game. Knoxville finally got on the board just before halftime when Roston McCarty ran in from five yards out. The Panthers outscored Nevada 14-6 in the 2nd half with two TaShawn Conner touchdown receptions, one from 82 yards out. While the outcome and the start was not what anyone wanted to see, Coach Matt Dunkin looked to how his guys would respond in the 2nd half.
Dunkin: “What are you going to do and what are you going to do in the 2nd half, and checking in with guys to see how their doing, and what they were doing.”
McCarty ended up throwing for 231 yards and two scores with four interceptions. Conner was the leading receiver with 111 yards on three catches, Jackson Clarke led on the ground with 57 yards on ten carries. Knoxville finishes up the year 1-8
