The Pleasantville football team defeated Durant in the opening round of the Class 1A playoffs at home on Friday.

The Trojans were the #2 seed with a 7-1 record taking on the #3 seeded Wildcats who finished the regular season at 5-3. Pleasantville got two touchdowns in the first half from a Braylon Bingham run and a JJ Phillips run and went into halftime tied 14-14. In the second half, Pleasantville scored 28 unanswered points on a Logan Roff receiving touchdown, two Phillips touchdown runs, and a Owen Rule touchdown reception to secure a 42-14 win. Head Coach Mack Jorth says it feels good to win in the playoffs and he believes his team has benefited from a lot of experience in big situations.

“I think they have had a lot of great competitive experience for sure and I think that definitely helps. There is no better teacher than experience and I think these guys respond well to experience and they figure out what they need to learn from their experience and they keep on growing so I think we are seeing a lot of that.”

The Trojans will now advance to the second round of the playoffs and they will find out who they play at 10:00 am today.
