Late-stage delays in the project on Highway 14 have pushed its opening back three weeks. The Iowa Department of Transportation reports Highway 14 will not be open in October and the open date has been moved back to November 21st. This is due to delay on the Brush Creek Bridge project resulting from high lake levels. Transportation Planner Chris Kukla says the contractor is “working aggressively” to complete the Brush Creek Bridge ahead of the revised open date. He says the project on the Mile Long Bridge itself over the Des Moines River has been completed. The plan is to open both the Brush Creek and Mile Long Bridge together to avoid additional traffic issues on local roads.
