The second Northstar Elementary public meeting date ahead of the upcoming November bond vote election will happen tonight.

On Tuesday’s General Election ballot, citizens of Knoxville will be asked to vote on approving the final portion of funding for a new elementary school in Knoxville, totaling $12.4 million in general obligation school bonds. The other two-thirds of the funding has already been approved, which will be $26 million in sales, service, and use tax revenue refunding bonds.

After holding the first session in September the district is holding another session tonight from 6-8 pm, in which citizens can have their questions answered ahead of the upcoming bond vote. A Northstar task force was assembled in the spring, and decided a new building was the most appropriate option for the future of the school. The new building would be located in the Veterans District. The meeting will consist of a Q&A session from 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm and then attendees will have the opportunity to tour the building from 7:00 pm – 8:00 pm.
