The Pleasantville football team is looking to make a deep postseason run.
The Trojans are 8-1 this season and coming off a first round playoff win over Durant at home last week. The first round playoff win was a significant hurdle overcome by Pleasantville as they have been knocked out of the playoffs in the first round the last five years. The Trojans have now received a favorable second round draw as they will go on the road Friday and have a manageable matchup against a 5-4 Hudson team who they hold the advantage over in many statistical categories.
The Trojans have many players on the offensive and defensive side of the football who have played a significant amount of snaps since their freshman season and head coach Mack Jorth believes his team is using their experience to their advantage. Many players on this team also were on the baseball team that won the state championship over the summer and Joth believes his team has benefited from a lot of experience in big situations.
“I think they have had a lot of great competitive experience for sure and I think that definitely helps. There is no better teacher than experience and I think these guys respond well to experience and they figure out what they need to learn from their experience and they keep on growing so I think we are seeing a lot of that.”
Friday’s Class 1A Second Round Playoff Contest in Hudson will start at 7:00 pm and the winner will face either Cascade or Regina Catholic.
