A contract for revetment was approved by the Jasper County Board of Supervisors this week, for a bridge replacement project on South 36th Avenue East, south of Interstate 80 and just west of the Jasper/Poweshiek County line. The Jasper County Road Department started removing the prior bridge over Sugar Creek, 7-tenths of a mile east of County Highway T-38 South, in late September. The replacement project is expected to be completed in early December.
The County Supervisors approved Jasper County Engineer Mike Frietsch’s request to accept the low revetment bid from Bruening Rock Products Incorporated of Decorah for $11,112.
“This will be the revetment stone and riprap we need to protect the backside of the abutments there.”
In August of last year, the Jasper County Board of Supervisors approved the purchase of the 80-foot Steel Girder Superstructure for this bridge. It was acquired through Oden Enterprises of Wahoo, Nebraska for $122,264.
