Newton Colfax-Mingo Pella Aquagirls Coach Kaylee Franke has been a little out of her comfort zone this season. Franke and assistant coach Kara Groenenboom joined the team just before the season began. Just jumping right into something is not in Franke’s nature.
“I am somebody who likes to prepare. I would have loved to have done some of the online stuff, like for Varsity Bound, and things that better equip me to equip them.”
Franke adds that she was blessed to have some parents of her swimmers’ really step up to help out.
“We’ve got Lori Moffit here and Kim Nedder in Pella who make sure the girls have what they need. And then we had two of our swim club families step up and say this is where our daughters will land someday, and we know this is a season of transition with two new coaches, so how can we help.”
Franke feels the coaching transition turned out as well as it could. The NCMP Aquagirls are preparing for the Regional Diving and Swimming Meets later this week in Marshalltown. The Aquagirls’ swimmers and one diver will attempt to qualify for the Iowa Girls Swimming and Diving State Meet November 13-14, at the University of Iowa Campus Recreation and Wellness Center.
