The Mile Long Bridge and Brush Creek Bridge are now open after being closed for the last seven months.

The overlay project on Highway 14 north of Knoxville first started on April 7th and has caused significant detours for commuters since the work began. Just last week the Iowa Department of Transportation announced the project would not be finished until November 21st after originally expecting the project to be completed in late October. However, on Monday afternoon Marion County Sheriff Jason Sandholdt confirmed to KNIA/KRLS that the project is complete and the bridge is open.

Sandholdt says “The Mile Long Bridge and the Brush Creek Bridge on Highway 14 are now officially open. Thank you for everyone’s patience during this long process and please spread the word.”

The recent expected delay in the project for the Brush Creek Bridge was because of high lake levels.
