The Newton Cardinal Girls Bowling team defeated Marshalltown 2,095 pins to 1,590 in the season opener for both schools Tuesday at Wayward Social in Marshalltown. Senior Gabby Humphrey collected the most pins for Newton. Her two-game total was 343. She also bowled the highest game score of the night at 205. Kelly Holmes collected 295 pins for the Cardinals over her two games, while Braleigh Slings knocked down 287, Aeris Archer 230, Mackenna Burns 222, and Lili Baxin 172. 

Marshalltown’s highest single-game score was 168, while 288 was the Bobcat’s top two-game total.

Next up for Newton, the girls’ bowling team will host their first conference opponent on November 24th when Pella visits Cardinal Lanes.
