Local runners and walkers can work up an appetite Thanksgiving morning as the Knoxville Cancer Relay team hosts its second annual Turkey Trot event 5K at the Knoxville Recreation Center.

The 3.1-mile event starts at 8 a.m. and is a way to burn off some calories before feasting. It’s also a head start for the Relay Team’s 2026 efforts on behalf of the American Cancer Society. The Knoxville Cancer Relay has raised over $300,000 for the American Cancer Society which helps fund research, advocacy, and patient support.

“It was exciting last year to see so many people, including groups of friends and families, out having a great time on Thanksgiving morning,” said KCR team leader Steve Linsley. “The course is flat and the weather should be cool, so come support a good cause before you chow down.”

Registration is $35. Medals will be awarded to the top three runners in the youth, female and male categories. Sign up here or at the rec center at 800 S. Park Lane on the morning of the Turkey Trot. The deadline to be guaranteed a t-shirt is Monday.
