As of today, vehicles are not allowed inside Newton’s Maytag Park because the lighted Christmas displays that will light up and fill the park from after Thanksgiving through the new year are beginning to be put up.
Newton’s Park Operations Assistant Superintendent, is in charge of the Holiday Lights Display at the park. She says she’s made around 300 of the nearly 400 displays which attract a lot of local and area residents.
“Anytime I have been over here, checking on stuff on different nights, it’s solid almost all the time. It’s awesome!”
Murphy has been in charge of the Maytag Park Holiday Lights display for the past eight years.
Maytag Park will reopen to vehicles on Saturday, November 29th, which is opening night for Maytag Park Holiday Lights. While the park is closed to vehicles, people are still welcome to walk into the park.
