The Knoxville Police Department is reminding local businesses to protect themselves from theft this holiday shopping season.

The Police Department says that having working and effective security cameras in your business can help combat theft, and can store a large amount of video to be easily accessed from a mobile device. According to the Knoxville Police Department, cameras should always cover all exits, entrances of dressing rooms and bathrooms, the point of sale, and be strategically placed to cover areas where a thief could easily conceal items while hidden from employees. Police Chief Aaron Fuller encourages anyone with questions about cameras to contact his department.

“Security cameras are super inexpensive, they’re easy to set up, they’re easy to use, they’re good, they have good picture quality. It’s easy to share with us or with others whatever is happening in your store.”

Fuller says an officer would be happy to come out to a store in the community to give pointers on the most effective place to put your security cameras.
