The Knoxville basketball Squads were on the opposite side of lopsided games on Tuesday as the girls fell to Davis County 62-16 while the boys stampeded by the Mustangs 88-31. The girls were plagued with turnovers again and Davis County’s swarming defense caused several mistakes early on. Knoxville was able to get a few shots to drop in the 1st half, but not enough and trailed 40-12 at the half. Ayla Williams scored seven points to lead Knoxville who is 0-4 and 0-2 in the South Central Conference. The boys, like Friday, started fast and ended just as fast in a game that was never in doubt from the start. The Panthers built a 28-2 lead after the 1st 8:00 and put it on cruise control. Another balanced scoring night led by Lincoln Norris with 20 points and Drake Larson putting in 19. Larson told KNIA/KRLS Sports their up tempo style has given them confidence early this season.
Larson: “We know it’s something we worked on a devserve. We come out every day with the mentality of running teams off the floor and get the wins there.”
Cael Cook, Karson Caster and Tristan Stevenson all chipped in ten points as Knoxville moved to 2-0 on the season and 2-0 in the conference. Both Knoxville squads host Chariton on Hall of Fame induction night Friday.
