Marion County Public Health is reminding citizens of a winter weather checklist as we enter winter time.

According to Public Health, you should always know what to do before, during, and after a winter storm. You should listen to local officials, have emergency supplies at home, your work, and in your vehicle, use heating devices safely and install a carbon monoxide detector in your home.  According to the CDC, 63% of temperature related deaths are attributed to cold exposure and home heating is the second leading cause of home fires.

A winter weather checklist that public health encourages everyone to abide by is maintaining heating equipment with annual cleanings, dress in several layers of lightweight clothing, insulate your home by installing storm windows or adding plastic covering, wear waterproof boots, bring pets indoors, and utilize media for weather updates.
