The Pella School Board will formally review an invitation from the Raccoon River Conference at Monday’s meeting.
Now that a majority of school boards from RRC schools have approved the invitation, the Pella School Board can formally act to join their league. Activities Director Matt Fouch will give a presentation to the board prior to the formal resolution, aiming to highlight the pros and cons of leaving the Little Hawkeye Conference. The invitation from the Raccoon River Conference is for the 2027-28 school year, but that would require permission from the current LHC superintendents.
After the end of the 2025-26 school year, the Raccoon River Conference will include ADM, Ballard, Boone, Bondurant-Farrar, Carlisle, Gilbert, North Polk, and Winterset, with Carroll departing. The current Little Hawkeye Conference includes Pella, Pella Christian, Indianola, Norwalk, Newton, Oskaloosa, and Dallas Center-Grimes. Ames and Des Moines Christian are joining in 2026-27, and Oskaloosa has announced they are exploring leaving the league.
Pella’s school board meeting begins at 5:30 p.m. Monday in the Pella High School Library.
