The Norwalk bowling and wrestling teams all completed the 2025 portion of their schedules on Saturday.

The Warrior bowling squads both improved to 1-2 on the season with dual wins over Pella Christian at Statesmen Lanes in Oskaloosa. The Norwalk boys posted a season-high score and won 2829 to 2050. The girls won their dual 1641 to 1197.

Blake Halsted led the Norwalk boys with an individual series of 501, bowling games of 268 and 233. Tanner Housley rolled games of 213 and 236 for a 449, and Aksel Beedon added a 415. The Norwalk girls were led by Molly Olson’s two-game set of 261 and high game of 152. Baylee Baldwin totaled 230 pins. The Norwalk bowlers return to action on January 3, 2026, hosting Newton at Air Lanes Bowling Center.

On the wrestling mats, the Norwalk boys finished a two-day competition at the Battle of Waterloo by placing second in Pool 6 with a 2-1 record. They went 1-2 in Bracket D on Friday. The Warriors lost a close 39-35 decision against Union, LaPorte City to start Saturday’s action, then defeated Nashua-Plainfield 41-36 and Cedar Falls 42-29.

Izaac Jensen went 3-0 with three pins for Norwalk and Victor Esparza was 3-0 with two pins on the day. Additional Warriors to record a pin were Cayden Hirsch, Jordan Tapia, Blake Stanford, Braxton Mendoza, Kingstyn Wells, Madox Ward, Kale Wadle and Andrew Newberg. Norwalk’s dual record is now 5-5 on the season. Their next meet will be a home triangular vs. Pella and Centerville on January 6.

The Norwalk girls wrestlers placed ninth out of 14 teams at the Boone Invitational, scoring 92 points. Seven Warriors placed in the top eight, led by freshman Hannah Schmitz winning the championship at 100 pounds. Schmitz, now 26-1 on the season, went 4-0 with two pins, a technical fall and a major decision in the finals. Placing fifth for the Warriors were Lucca Severino at 130 pounds and Malaika Scholten at 190. Maggie Evans at 110, Mya Wojtowicz at 120 and Mimi Dautovic at 140 all placed sixth. Morgan Roth placed eighth at 155. Dautovic led the team with three wins by fall.

The Norwalk girls return to the mats on January 8 for a quad meet at Pella.
