KNIA KRLS News has learned that Republican House District 28 candidate Jon Van Wyk has withdrawn from the primary election for Iowa House District 28, in a race against incumbent Greg Heartsill. Van Wyk says, on his Facebook page, that he does not want his first run for office to be marred by questions and concerns of residency malfeasance. He says he will continue to fundraise and network with those inside the Republican party, and plans to run in 2016. In the meantime, he says he and his family will focus on their move from Clive to Sully. Van Wyk grew up just west of Oskaloosa, and now owns and operates Van Wijk Winery in Sully.
