A preliminary hearing has been set for a Knoxville man accused of threatening his wife with a knife.

Knoxville Police arrested 43-year-old Jack Ellis Gould on Sunday night after responding to an apartment on Douglas Street for a domestic assault in progress.

Court records indicate the victim and Gould got into a dispute when Gould hit the victim in the face with an open hand. He then got a knife and held it to the victim’s throat stating, “If I’m going to jail I’m gonna make it good.” Neighbors heard the victim’s cries for help, at which point they went to Gould’s apartment and saw the victim laying on the floor.

Gould is charged with domestic abuse assault with the intent to cause serious injury or use of a dangerous weapon, an aggravated misdemeanor. He’s schedule to be in court on Thursday, November 13th.
