Caleb Light nailed a 22 yard field goal with three seconds left to give Knoxville a dramatic 26-23 victory over Newton in high school football last night. The Panthers looked to have all the momentum building a 23-7 lead in the third quarter, but the Cardinals scored 16 points to tie the game with 29 seconds left. That is when the game turned dramatic as Connor Bailey nearly broke the ensuing kickoff for a touchdown that gave the Panthers good field position at their own 40, when Knoxville used the hook and latter play to set up shop at the Newton ten. Two plays later Light drilled the game winner. While Light had the game winner, Coach Eric Kellar told KNIA/KRLS Sports his offensive line is coming into its own. Connor Bailey rushed for 132 yards on 11 carries while D-J Snyder ran for 72 yards on 22 carries. Knoxville is 1-0 on the season and will travel to Centerville next week.
