Emergency crews responded to multiple accidents causing injuries and damage on Highway 163 since Thursday.
Yesterday, one person was injured in a motorcycle crash on Highway 163 west of LDJ Manufacturing. Dispatchers received a report at 2 p.m. of a motorcycle heading eastbound that crossed over the median and both westbound lanes of traffic before coming to a rest in the ditch. The operator was transported to Pella Regional Health Center with non-life threatening injuries.
On Thursday morning, multiple agencies responded to a vehicle that flipped over five times and came to a rest in the median near Mile Marker 44 on Highway 163. The Pella PD, Pella Rural Fire, Pella Ambulance, Marion County Sheriff’s Office, Mahaska County Sheriff’s Office, and Iowa State Patrol all responded. The lone occupant was transported with non-life threatening injuries.
On Saturday afternoon at approximately 2:45 p.m., a Dodge caravan driven by an Ottumwa woman lost control near the eastbound exit ramp on 163 at Mile Marker 42. The lone vehicle was overturned off the shoulder on the right side of the road after the driver over corrected in the left lane. Two people, both from Ottumwa, were transported to Pella Regional Health Center.
Police also received a 911 call Sunday evening for a vehicle that hit a parked car in the 1300 block of Main Street. Pella Ambulance responded after dispatch received reports of airbag deployment.
