freedom-5k

The Knoxville Police Department will hold their second annual Freedom 5k this morning with the run beginning at the department at 8 am. A flag raising will be held at 7:45 with local Boy Scouts as well as members of the American Legion and VFW. A Knoxville school band will play the National Anthem and the run will begin with a volley courtesy of the American Legion. Registration for the run $30 with kids under 10 running for free. Lieutenant Aaron Fuller with the department tells KNIA/KRLS News events like the Freedom 5k wouldn’t be possible without the support of the community. He says recently the city as well as the police department have branched out with more events for the city and that they are just trying to do their part to bring pride to the city. Proceeds from this year’s run will be used to establish a scholarship for any individual interested in a career in law enforcement.
