The Indianola, Norwalk, and Southeast Warren/Melcher-Dallas girls wrestling teams all competed in the state qualifying meets today, with several athletes advancing with a top four finish.

The Indianola girls had top finishes from Summer Wolff at 135lbs with a fourth place finish, while Lanie Frericks at 235lbs also had a fourth place finish, with both advancing to state. Wolff won in the quarterfinals by major decision 13-3, but fell in the semifinals and third place match, before dominating in the 4th place match to qualify. Frericks had the same path, advancing to the semifinals, before falling there and in the third place match but winning the fourth place match to stay alive.

Glorious Fridley from Southeast Warren/Melcher-Dallas Wrestling fell in the quarterfinal round, but battled back through the consolation round to the consolation semifinals before a loss put her one loss away from not qualifying. Fridley won the 5th and 4th place matches however, and placed 4th at 170lbs to advance.

The state wrestling tournament will be February 2nd and 3rd at the Xtream Arena in Coralville.
