A Newton man who allegedly injured another man with a pocket knife at a Newton residence last Sunday was released from the Jasper County Jail Tuesday. Court records show 42-year-old Waylon Lavern Anders posted a $7,000 bond. His next court appearance is pending.
According to Newton Police, Anders was holding a pocket knife when he entered an East 10th Street South home at approximately 1:30 Sunday morning. Officers say he walked up to a sleeping Kellogg man and initiated an altercation, which led to the victim’s hand being cut.
Anders is charged with Going Armed With Intent, a Class D felony, and Assault While Displaying A Dangerous Weapon, an Aggravated Misdemeanor.
