Colfax Economic Development Corporation has taken in at least $280,000 for the $3.45 million childcare center since its groundbreaking on June 24th. A majority of that money is from a legacy grant the project received from Prairie Meadows. Colfax-Mingo School Superintendent and Vice President of Colfax Economic Development Corporation Tim Salmon says the $250,000 grant brings them one step closer to a much needed childcare center, and strengthens their fundraising efforts. Bank Iowa also just donated $30,000 to the project. Construction of the building across the street from the Colfax-Mingo Elementary School is projected to be completed in June of next year. The facility is expected to accommodate up to 140 children and create more than 20 new jobs.
