Claiming the number seven spot for the Pleasantville top sports stories of the 2024-2025 school year is senior Joelle Johnson breaking the school record for points in a game.
The feat happened on January 10th in a game against Interstate 35 where Johnson scored 40 points breaking the school record for points in a game. This was an instance of Johnson breaking her own record as she also broke the points in a game record as a junior. Johnson was one of the top guards in Class 2A the last two seasons and has been a staple of the Pleasantville girls basketball team. Last season Johnson averaged 17.4 points per game, 4.9 rebounds, and 2.6 steals and was a first team all-conference selection. Johnson also surpassed 1,000 career points.
