Eighmy, Central Men’s Golf Team Take Titles at Statesmen Invitational

Closing out its fall season with a team and individual title, the Central College men’s golf squad won the Statesmen Invitational Tuesday afternoon.

Playing at the par-71 TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Illinois, Central topped the five-team field with a two-day total of 296-301–597. Playing as an individual, Dutch junior Lincoln Eighmy improved by six spots from day one to day two to win medalist honors at 75-70–145. Blake Wynn secured runner-up honors with a score of 74-72–146. Jared Boyer shared fifth place (75-74–149) for his best collegiate finish. Carter Yurgae shot 75-76–151 and Maison Brandt shot 75-79–151 to tie for seventh place. Bautista Valeiras carded 78-80-158 for a 14th place effort.

Central will return to the course March 9 and 10 for the FST Pinecrest Invitational in Longview, Texas.

Central Women’s Soccer Team Takes Road Draw at Luther

The Central College women’s soccer team unleashed an offensive barrage against Luther College Tuesday night but never found the back of the net in a 0-0 tie. Central (6-4-2, 1-3-1 American Rivers Conference) outshot Luther 15-1 and had a 9-0 advantage on corner kicks in the second half. The Dutch had six total shots on frame, including four in the second half. Kylie Bloomstrom and Piper Eighmy each put two shots on frame, while Eighmy and Grace Wolford each fired off five total shots. Zoey Sizemore made three saves in goal while recording her fourth shutout of the season. Central plays Nebraska Wesleyan University on the road Saturday in Lincoln at 1 pm.

Dutch Suffer First Men’s Soccer Loss In Over a Month

An eight-game unbeaten streak came to an end for the Central College men’s soccer team Tuesday night in a 5-0 loss to Luther College. The Dutch (6-3-4, 2-1-2 American Rivers Conference) had not lost since falling to #22 St. Olaf College (Minn.) on September 9th. Central was 2-0-2 in league competition entering the night. Luther outshot Central by a 13-5 margin and had a 58% to 42% advantage in possession. Central travels to Lincoln, Nebraska Saturday for a 3:30 pm match against Nebraska Wesleyan University.
